July 29
Wednesday- Teach a mute what you meant. Mute a word, then flag a story it should have caught — Muuted learns the pattern from real stories in your own feed. No prompt writing, no settings panel. And expansion is now per mute, so “Tesla” can stay literal while “layoffs” spreads out. Every mute on your list has its own switch.
- 20 free AI summaries, no card. Free readers get a real taste instead of an upsell on the first tap, and the button tells you what a tap costs before you spend it — “Summary · 18 free”. A summary that fails to fetch explains why and doesn’t count against you.
- Affiliate posts get called out. A few times a week, a story built on affiliate links says so, right on the card. Pro can filter them out entirely; either way you know what you’re looking at before you tap.
- Mute a word without hunting for the box. The Story options sheet puts the input right there with the suggestions underneath it, instead of one tap behind a button. “Remove from my feed” now names the source it’s about to remove.
- Headlines stopped sticking in odd colours. On touch, a scrolled-past headline could latch into its category’s accent colour and stay there. Fixed.
- The pinned rows got their proportions back. Your boards row is the biggest, with categories and sources equal and smaller beneath it — and the category row scrolls sideways like the sources row always did.
July 28
Tuesday- If your plan lapses, you choose what stays. A new screen hands you your own source list, grouped by category, with a live counter and everything ticked — you untick what you can live without. Muuted never quietly drops sources for you and never deletes them; resubscribe and they all come back.
- Try a topic mute before you commit to it. The topic sheet previews what a mute would hide on your feed, right now. Free accounts get three a month.
- Hidden stories names the rule that caught each one. Smart Mute catches used to be anonymous — you could see a story was hidden but not what hid it. Now every row names the responsible rule and links straight to it.
- Support replies land in the app. A new Messages page with a badge on your account menu, so a reply doesn’t depend on our email surviving your spam filter. Reply in the app or by email — both land in the same conversation.
July 27
Monday- The three-second freeze after a refresh is gone. Right after the feed rebuilt, the page would lock up — no scrolling, no tapping — for about three seconds. The whole hydration pass was running as one blocking chunk; it now yields between chunks so the browser stays responsive. This is the real fix; an earlier attempt on the 25th addressed the wrong thing entirely.
- AI summaries carry a visible AI-generated note, in the app and on shared summary pages. It’s a machine reading an article; you should be told that without having to wonder.
- The summary sheet stopped hanging around. Tapping through to the reader, out to the site, then back left the sheet sitting open behind your feed.
- Shorter top navigation on phones, and breathing room between the sources badge and the story thumbnail.
July 26
Sunday- AI summaries reach every paid tier, with a taste for free readers.
- A summary that can’t be generated falls back to the publisher’s own excerpt instead of showing you a retry button that won’t help.
- Text stopped truncating at the largest size. The maximum size now fits the layout rather than overflowing it, and anyone parked above it gets pulled down to something readable.
- The sources badge moved to the top-right of the card and turned green, so it stops colliding with Mute & more. Long publisher names no longer wrap across three lines.
- Fixed source search returning nothing on iPad and phones.
July 25
Saturday- Search results open in your feed. A banner offers to show all matches in place, instead of trapping them in the overlay.
- A real progress bar on feed loads — one that fills, rather than a spinner that tells you nothing. Feed rebuilds are also faster: junk and topic detection is cached instead of re-scanning every story on every build.
- Pull-to-refresh no longer fires mid-swipe while a sheet is open, and the summary sheet opens closer to full height with its buttons on one line.
- “Edit source category” moved into Story options, where you’d look for it.
July 23–24
Thursday–Friday- Hidden stories tells you why. Every entry names the word or topic that hid it, in a calm neutral chip instead of an alarm colour. Filter by media type, and see how many videos your filters caught on the Video tab.
- Topic muting got more careful. An uncertain match no longer hides a story — when it isn’t sure, it leaves it alone.
- Feed controls count tiles are bigger and tappable, jumping straight to that section, and a settings shortcut now sits on every page.
- Fixed the mute button in Loud Cloud being unreachable behind the phone popup, a settings sheet that dismissed on the slightest swipe, and a freeze on the first swipe of a summary sheet.
July 22
Wednesday- One control room for your feed. Manage your feed and Hidden stories merged into a single page: Feed controls. Four sections tell the whole story — Sources (what comes in), Mutes (what stays out), Always show (your exceptions), and Hidden stories (what got caught). Categories now lives inside Sources, where it always belonged. Every old link and bookmark lands in the right place.
- Hidden stories grew up. It now reads from your private 7-day catch log, so it survives reloads and new devices. Pick Today or the last 7 days, search every hidden headline, source, and rule at once, filter by rule with one tap, group by rule or category, and page through 50 at a time — no more one endless page. Rows are compact: the reason, the headline, the source, and a small Show story. The repeated big green buttons are gone.
- Cleaner, calmer, easier to read. The blue accent bars are gone — color now means something (red for words, purple for topics, green for junk filters, and Muuted green for actions). Keyboard focus is visible everywhere, screen readers announce the selected section, and larger text sizes wrap instead of clipping.
- Every mute now shows what it’s doing. Muted words wear a live “N this week” count — tap it and Hidden stories opens showing exactly what that word caught. Topics’ review links do the same. And from any hidden story, Edit this mute jumps straight to the responsible rule, highlighted. The loop finally closes in both directions: set a rule, see what it hid, adjust, confirm.
- Restore feedback got friendlier. Showing a hidden story now confirms with a “Story restored” toast — Undo included — that politely sees itself out after a few seconds.
- The empty Podcasts tab’s “Add a podcast” button works now. It used to silently do nothing; it takes you to the add page. Same fix for the empty Social tab.
July 21
Tuesday- Setup got a phone-first overhaul. The welcome card gets to the point (“Build my feed”), interest packs open a full-screen source picker instead of cramped columns, search results are readable full-width rows, every step is shorter and scrolls from the top, and the plan-limit fine print is gone — the counters say it all.
- The tour points better. An electric-blue pulse now marks exactly what each step is talking about, the swipe step demos the gesture on a real story card, and the toolkit tray is introduced before anything refers to it.
- Sheets behave. The quick-settings sheet now scrolls on the very first swipe (a long-standing catch), the summary sheet got clearer header and footer bands with Share next to Read full article, and the floating “feed ready” pill is gone — the in-page note does the job without covering your navigation.
- Your first day is yours. New accounts now get a quiet first session: while the welcome tour is running nothing else interrupts, and the junk-filter offer waits until day two. Learn your feed first — the offers can wait.
- “Recently Muuted” is now “Hidden stories.” One name, one idea: Mutes is where you set the rules, Hidden stories is where you see what they caught and bring anything back. Tapping the muted count now opens a quick peek — today’s latest catches and a one-tap restore — with a clear “See all hidden stories” button for the full page. No more two near-identical screens.
- Muted topics finally have a home. The Mutes room’s Topics tab is now a real catalog: six ready-made topics, each with two strengths — Reduce noise keeps the substance and hides the churn, Hide topic hides the subject broadly. Your active topics show the exact rule they follow, how many stories they caught this week, and a one-tap way to review every catch. Topic mutes wear an Experimental tag while they earn their stripes — you can switch them off any time and your rules are kept.
- Every topic catch explains itself. A caught story’s Edit sheet now shows the rule that caught it, and splits “Show only this story” from “Fix the topic rule” — you approve every change, nothing learns behind your back.
- Junk filters for everyone. The six Muuted-maintained junk filters (sponsored posts, coupons, press releases and the like) are now visible to every account — free plans get all six for a 7-day trial. And starting the trial finally says what happened: how many stories were cleaned, where they went, and that nothing is ever deleted.
- Picking your starting sources got honest. During setup, every interest pack now opens up so you can see — and individually pick — the sources inside, the search bar moved above the packs, and the video step suggests channels you’ve actually heard of and shows only channels. Free plans now hit their source limit with a clear note instead of silently sailing past it.
- The tour got real. The search slide now opens the actual search bar and explains it, a new slide introduces the corner toolkit, and slides that pointed at the floating buttons no longer silently vanish.
- The corner button grew up. It’s a gear now (not mystery dots), and opening it labels everything: text size, search, settings, help, feedback — with a clear Close.
- Smoother, quieter, steadier. The sidebar stopped bouncing during fast scrolling and no longer leaves a gap above the weather; the mute-duration popup is a compact card on big screens; muting a word on a free plan now shows your slot count and where to see everything Pro unlocks; and your first week is free of upgrade banners entirely.
July 20
Monday- Muted topics stopped catching the wrong stories. A bug in how we read the AI’s answers could file whole batches of unrelated stories under one topic (one user’s “Shooting” mute had collected stone walls and Apple Store openings). The misread is fixed, every stored verdict was thrown away and re-earned, and answers we’re not sure about now leave the story visible.
- A round of small touches. The dots button on Recently Muuted now says “Edit”; search results stay reachable below the Close button; Summary sits dead-center on every card with Mute & more anchored right; and the summary panel is labeled SUMMARY with the story’s age next to the source.
- Muted topics are findable again. When a story was hidden by a muted topic, the “review your mutes” link dropped you on the Words list — where topic mutes don’t live. It now takes you straight to your Topics.
- The feed stopped sliding around behind panels. Opening a story summary (or any slide-up panel) used to nudge the whole feed up behind it — disorienting when you closed it. The feed now holds perfectly still underneath.
- The story summary feels like a real bottom sheet now. It sizes itself to the summary (short ones need no scrolling at all), the title stepped back so the summary leads, section headings became a simple “source · AI summary” line, the scrollbar is gone (text fades at the fold instead), and the action buttons got small and quiet. Summaries also grew — four to six bullets instead of three.
- Long headlines no longer shrink to fit. Wordy titles used to drop to a smaller type size on phones — hard on the eyes. Every headline is now the same comfortable size; a long one simply takes a few more lines.
- Search results stay reachable after you add a source. Adding a source used to leave its long recent-posts preview open, burying the rest of the results. The preview now folds away the moment you add — tap the row or “Show recent posts” to peek again.
July 19
Sunday- The reader can no longer trap you. Muting something (or tapping any app link) from inside the reader used to leave the screen dimmed and frozen behind an invisible page. Now the reader steps aside and takes you straight there.
- Smoother scrolling, cleaner reader. Blank card placeholders no longer snap smaller as you scroll (their size estimates caught up with the denser cards), and short articles in the reader no longer let the feed peek through underneath.
- Two paper cuts, gone. Tapping Mute & more from a story summary now closes the summary so Story options actually appears (it was opening invisibly behind). And card headlines on phones no longer get chopped to three lines — especially at larger text sizes, you see the whole title.
- The feed always tells you where you are. A small label above the stories now names your current view — browsing by category, by source, or Latest across everything — and updates as you move. Plus: the Today strip leads with what’s in your feed, Top 10 sizes itself to your story style, pinned video channels show thumbnails in the sidebar again, and the scrolling source strip keeps your selection centered.
- The summary panel got a clear structure. Original story up top (and it stays put while you scroll), then “In short” — a one-line takeaway with real bullet points under it, and quieter article actions at the bottom. Less shouting, easier scanning.
- The reading-tools cluster opens in one tap on iPad. The ••• button used to need a second tap before the display toggles appeared — a hover behavior leaking onto touch screens. One tap now shows everything.
- Quick settings on desktop caught up. The display toggles — view, layout, appearance, text size — now sit together at the top of the desktop Quick settings panel, the same as on your phone.
- The page itself got lighter. Your feed now arrives as a fast first screen — everything you can see — while the rest of your stories stream in quietly behind it. Same feed, same counts, a fraction of the download.
- Feeds now load in seconds. Muuted checks your sources continuously in the background and builds your feed from what it has already gathered — opening the app no longer waits on hundreds of sites answering live. Heavy feeds that took half a minute on a cold load now land in a few seconds, and a slow or broken site can never hold your feed hostage.
- Calmer “new stories” pill. It now shows up only when there are 3+ new stories and your feed is at least 15 minutes old — and it carries a close button that keeps it away for the rest of the visit.
- “Show me” lands somewhere useful. The pointer now jumps to a section that actually has visible stories, instead of the top of an all-muted group.
- Muted gaps name their source. When every story from a source was muted today, the placeholder says so — “All 5 stories from that source today” — with a link to see what was caught.
- The summary sheet stays put. Closing it now takes a deliberate pull-down; a casual scroll mid-read no longer dismisses it.
July 18
Saturday- Search YouTubers by name. Muuted now runs its own YouTube channel index — type a creator's name in the one search box and their channel comes back as an addable source, ranked like everything else.
- Your feed stops swapping itself. After a refresh, the quick first view used to replace itself mid-read when the full build landed. Now a pill drops in — "Your full feed is ready — tap to show it" — and nothing moves until you say so.
- Smarter suggestions. "More for your feed" no longer offers sources you already follow (in any http/https disguise), and pairs-well chips stopped stacking suggestions on top of suggestions.
- Mute suggestions know your mutes. In story options, a word you've already muted shows as a green "muted ✓" chip that jumps to your mute list — instead of letting you mute it twice.
- Stories kept by an always-show word say so. An amber-edged card now explains "Shown by your always-show word … " so a story a mute matched but your override kept is never a mystery.
- Recently Muuted cleanups. "See what was muted" links go to the real page, the sheet can't be dragged off-screen sideways anymore, and the topic filter got sharper about figurative language ("executed a plan" is not gun violence).
- Beta pipeline shakedown. We walked the whole founding-tester journey end to end — apply, acceptance, the free Pro grant, the test list, and the fixed-it emails — and polished what we found (cleaner email formatting, for one). Doors open soon.
July 17
Friday- Search is a one-box overlay. Tap the magnifier and one sheet searches your feed, adds sources, and mutes words — without losing your place in the feed.
- Confirmations stopped vanishing. Every toast now sticks around until you close it — with Undo right there. No more "wait, what did I just do?"
- The sidebar finally scrolls right. It moves with your feed, parks when you've seen it all, and comes straight back when you scroll up.
- One summary experience. Tapping a story and tapping Summary now open the same slide-up panel, on every screen size.
- Every settings toggle explains itself — tap the little ⓘ for a plain-English line on what it does.
- Beta testers got a proper What to test page with annotated screenshots, links to each surface, and a weekly (not daily) email digest — with one-tap opt-out.
- Mute rules all live in one room now: Mutes — words, topics, sources, junk filters, and lists in one place, with a "Recently Muuted" view of everything that got caught. Your catches now survive app updates too.
July 16
Thursday- "N new stories" pill — open tabs quietly check for a fresher feed and offer a one-tap update.
- Video cards show durations, and video rows work properly in the Headlines layout.
- Manage your feed became its own page — sources, categories, muted words, and always-show in one searchable place.
- Muted words got a real home: alphabetized Words, first-class Lists, and Suggestions that offer to group related words for you.
- Category dropdowns can create a new category on the spot, and Auto-sort previews its moves before touching anything.
- Beta program upgrades: apply at muuted.com/beta and accepted testers get 6 months of Pro, automatically.
- A pile of polish from a full-product audit: better contrast, bigger tap targets, honest error messages, dark-mode parity, and smoother mute animations.
July 15
Wednesday- Organize my words — one tap groups your muted words into named lists (with a full preview first, and Undo). Sorting happens with a local model; your mute words never leave the server.
- Fair source quotas on the free plan: 50 sites + 10 video channels + 10 social accounts — a full site list never blocks adding a YouTube channel.
- Feed builds can't hang anymore — slow sources get skipped and served from their last good fetch, and the whole gather has a hard time limit.
- Adding a source now lands with a clear success card — what got added, which tab it shows on, and Undo.
- Every "add" control un-adds on a second tap, everywhere.
- Send feedback with a screenshot attached — straight from the app.
July 14
Monday- Clearer names everywhere: Smart Mute became Muted topics, Pro Packs became Starter packs, and the trending widget became The Loud Cloud.
- The Mutes page arrived — one destination showing everything muted today, with a one-story "Show this story" exception when a rule catches something you actually wanted.
- Muted stories show a breakdown of why they were hidden (word, topic, junk, duplicate).
