Muuted makes money from subscriptions, not advertising or attention. Your sources and mutes are encrypted at rest, images viewed inside Muuted load through its own proxy, and your data is never sold. There is no incentive to keep you scrolling.
Is this an RSS reader?
Under the hood, Muuted uses open feeds — RSS, YouTube, Bluesky, Mastodon — but you never need to find or manage feed URLs. Search by name, paste a link, or import your OPML or YouTube subscriptions.
Will it have the sites I read?
The directory includes more than 54,000 regularly checked sources. If something is missing, paste its URL and Muuted will look for a usable feed — and tell you honestly when it can’t follow one.
Does it replace Google News?
It replaces the habit. You still see the day’s big stories — a Top 10 shows which stories are appearing across the most of your own sources. Nothing is selected to maximize clicks or engagement.
Does Muuted use AI?
Only where you ask it to. Muted words use exact, deterministic matching — no AI at all. Muted topics (Pro) compares a headline with the preference you wrote; it never receives your identity, source list, or reading history. See the privacy page for details.
Is my source list private?
Yes. Your sources and mutes are encrypted at rest, Muuted has no third-party trackers, and images viewed inside the app load through Muuted’s proxy. You can delete your account and its data yourself from Settings at any time.
Is there a mobile app?
Muuted is built for your phone’s browser. Add it to your home screen and it behaves like an app — no app store, nothing to install.
Is the free plan actually usable?
The free plan is a complete feed: 50 sources, 20 muted words, and the Video and Social tabs. Pro is for people who need more sources, more mutes, or topic-level filtering.
