How it works

Build a feed around what you actually follow.

Muuted is a personalized feed reader for websites, blogs, YouTube channels, podcasts and other open feeds. You choose the sources, you choose the filters, and nothing gets recommended to you.

Short answer Your sources. Your filters. No ranking.

Muuted builds your feed only from what you chose to follow and what you chose to mute — nothing recommended, nothing hidden without telling you why.

What it is

What Muuted is

Most feeds decide what you should see. Muuted does not. You pick the sources, you pick what gets filtered out, and what is left is your feed. No ranking model, no recommendations, no ads. Muuted is paid for by the people reading it.

01

Choose sources

Search by subject, browse hand-picked directories, add a pack, import OPML or follow a feed directly.

What you can follow

What you can follow

Anything with an open feed, in one place: websites and blogs, news publications, RSS and Atom feeds, YouTube channels, podcasts, Bluesky, Hacker News, and developer sources like GitHub, Lobsters, Stack Overflow and arXiv. Search for a topic, paste a link, or start from a pack.

Muting

Mute once, everywhere

Mute a word or a phrase and it applies to every source you follow. Mute "crypto" once and crypto headlines stop appearing, whether they came from a news site, a blog or a YouTube channel. The same works for a team you are avoiding spoilers for, a person you are tired of, or a story that has run its course.

Hidden stories

You can see exactly what was filtered

This is the part most filters get wrong. Muuted never silently deletes anything. Every story a rule catches goes to Hidden stories, tagged with the rule that caught it. Read it, restore it to your feed, or remove the rule entirely.

What it doesn't do

What Muuted does not do

Filtering makes your feed smaller. That is the point. When you have read what is left, you are caught up and you can close it.

No recommendation algorithm

Nothing is ranked by predicted engagement. Nothing is suggested. Stories arrive newest first from the sources you chose.

No infinite scroll, no ads

No feed built to keep you there, no advertisers, and no behavioural profile deciding what you should read next.

No replacing what you filtered

A muted story is gone from the feed, not swapped for another one. Your feed gets quieter, not rearranged.

Why it's different

Why it is different

Power-user readers can mute parts of the news, but they are complex and ugly. The pretty news apps give you no control and are built to keep you doomscrolling. Muuted is the simple, calm middle: muting is the hero feature, and it is free.

Questions

Questions

What is Muuted?

Muuted is a personalized feed reader. You choose the sources: websites, blogs, news sites, YouTube channels, podcasts and other open feeds, and Muuted brings them into one feed. There is no recommendation engine deciding what you see next.

Is Muuted an RSS reader?

Yes, and more than one. Muuted reads RSS and Atom feeds, and it also handles YouTube channels, podcasts, Hacker News, Bluesky and developer sources like GitHub, Lobsters, Stack Overflow and arXiv.

How does muting work?

Mute a word or phrase once and it applies across every source you follow. You do not configure it site by site. Any story whose headline matches is filtered out of the feed.

What happens to stories Muuted filters?

Nothing is deleted. Filtered stories go to Hidden stories, which shows each one with the exact rule that caught it. You can read it, restore it, or remove the rule.

Can I see why a story was hidden?

Yes. Every hidden story is labelled with what caught it, a muted word, a topic, or one of the junk filters, and it takes one tap to bring it back.

Does Muuted use an algorithm to rank stories?

No. Stories are not ranked by predicted engagement and nothing is recommended to you. Muuted's job is to remove, not to suggest.

Can I follow YouTube channels without recommendations?

Yes. Follow a channel and its uploads arrive in your feed in order, with no recommended videos alongside them.

Is Muuted free?

Yes. The free plan includes 100 sources and 10 muted words. Pro is $4 a month or $36 a year and removes those limits.

Ready for a quieter feed?

Bring the sources you love. Mute the rest.

Free to start: 100 sources and 10 muted words. Muuted builds the feed from your own choices and shows its work every time a rule fires.
