Bring your podcast subscriptions into Muuted.

Most podcast apps can hand you a list of your shows as one small file. Muuted reads that file and follows every show from its own feed. Here is where the export hides in each app, and what to do when an app has none.

Where the file goes: Feed Rules › Sources › Import a list. Tick the podcast box first.
Step one

Get the file from your app.

Every app below exports the same kind of file, called OPML. Menus move around between versions, so if a label isn't exactly where this says, look one screen up or down.

Overcast

Overcast's export lives on its website, not in the app.

  1. Open overcast.fm in a browser and sign in with the same account as the app.
  2. Open Account (top right).
  3. Scroll to Export OPML and tap it. A file named overcast.opml downloads.

Pocket Casts

In the app.

  1. Open Profile, then the Settings gear.
  2. Tap Import / Export (older versions: Export Podcasts).
  3. Tap Export and save the OPML file, or send it to yourself.

Castro

In the app.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Under Subscriptions, tap Export Subscriptions.
  3. Save the OPML file, or share it to yourself.

AntennaPod

In the app (Android).

  1. Open Settings, then Import / Export.
  2. Tap OPML export and choose where to save it.

Apple Podcasts

No export on iPhone or iPad. The Mac app has none either.

Apple keeps your subscriptions inside its own account, and the app has no export button. The fastest way across is adding shows by name: type the show's name in Muuted's source search and add it. Most people are done in a few minutes.

Spotify

No export.

Spotify doesn't let you take your list out. Add shows by name instead. One thing to know: a few shows are Spotify exclusives with no public feed, so they can't be followed anywhere else.

Google Podcasts / YouTube Music

Google Podcasts closed in 2024.

If you took the one-time OPML export Google offered before it closed, that file works here. Otherwise your shows are now in YouTube Music, which has no podcast export; add them by name.

Step two

Import the file into Muuted.

  1. Open Feed Rules from the menu, then Sources.
  2. Tap Import a list and tick This file is podcast subscriptions, so the shows land in your Podcasts tab rather than with your news.
  3. Choose the OPML file and press Import. Muuted tells you how many shows came across. New episodes appear in published order, and your muted words apply to episode titles too.
No export? No problem

Add shows by name.

For Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or any app that won't export, this takes about a minute per show.

  1. Open Feed Rules, then Sources, then the add box.
  2. Type the show's name. Muuted searches the podcast directory and shows matches with their artwork.
  3. Tap the right one. That's it. You can also paste a show's page address from any app, and Muuted finds its feed.

FAQ

Which podcast apps can export my subscriptions?

Overcast, Pocket Casts, Castro, AntennaPod and most independent apps export an OPML file. Spotify has no export, and Apple Podcasts on iPhone has no export either; for those, search each show by name in Muuted.

What is an OPML file?

A small text file that lists your subscriptions with each show's feed address. Every podcast app that supports export uses it, and Muuted reads it directly.

Do my episodes and listening history come across?

No. OPML carries only the list of shows. Muuted follows each show's feed from then on; your old app keeps your history.

Can I keep using my podcast app too?

Yes. Importing copies the list; it changes nothing in the app you exported from.

What about YouTube channels?
