NewsBlur integrations

NewsBlur integrations, and where Muuted fits.

NewsBlur keeps integrations simple: mostly OPML files in and out, plus its own blurblogs for sharing what you read. Muuted is a different reader, not a NewsBlur add-on — but moving between the two, or running both, takes one file and a few minutes.

OPML in and outNo public APIMute packs instead of blurblogs
Short answer
OPML both ways. No API.

Export your NewsBlur OPML, import it into Muuted. Change your mind, export Muuted's OPML back out. Muuted does not have a public API or a connected-apps list — if that's what "NewsBlur integrations" means for you, better to say so up front.

What NewsBlur connects to

NewsBlur's own integrations are mostly a file, not an API.

NewsBlur's own export tool lives at newsblur.com/import/opml_export — a standard OPML file listing every feed you follow, with folders. NewsBlur also has blurblogs, a public page of stories you've shared from inside the app. Outside of that, NewsBlur isn't built around a catalog of third-party connections the way some tools are — most "integration" questions about a feed reader come down to getting your subscriptions out as a file and into something else.

How Muuted fits

Bring your NewsBlur feeds in. Take them out just as easily.

Import from NewsBlur

Export OPML from NewsBlur, then Feed Rules → Sources → Import a list in Muuted. Every feed becomes a source; already-added ones are skipped.

Export back out

Account → OPML for other readers downloads your Muuted subscriptions, grouped by category, in the same standard format NewsBlur reads.

No public API

Muuted doesn't have one yet. It connects through files (OPML, backup JSON) and plain RSS, not a developer API or a connected-apps list.

Sharing, Muuted's way

No blurblogs here — mute packs instead.

NewsBlur's blurblog is a public page of stories you've shared. Muuted doesn't publish a feed of your reading. What it does have is a mute pack: a link carrying your muted words and, if you choose, your sources, that anyone can open and add to their own account in one tap — a way to hand someone a calmer starting point, not a public timeline of what you read.

Questions

FAQ

Can I import my NewsBlur subscriptions into Muuted?

Yes. In NewsBlur, go to newsblur.com/import/opml_export and download your OPML file. In Muuted, open the menu, tap Feed Rules, then Sources, and use Import a list to choose that file. Every feed in it becomes a source.

Can I move back to NewsBlur, or run both?

Yes. Muuted exports your subscriptions as a standard OPML file from Account → OPML for other readers, grouped by category. NewsBlur, or any other RSS reader, can import that file. Nothing locks you in.

Does Muuted have a public API, like some NewsBlur integrations use?

No. Muuted does not have a public API yet. If that's what you're looking for, say so in an email to support@muuted.com — it helps decide what to build next.

NewsBlur has blurblogs for sharing. Does Muuted have something like that?

Not a public blog of your reads, no. Muuted has mute packs instead: a link that carries your muted words and, if you choose, your sources, that anyone can open and install into their own account in one tap.

Does Muuted connect to IFTTT, Zapier, or other automation tools?

No. Muuted connects to the rest of your reading world through OPML files and plain RSS feeds, not through a connected-apps integration list.
